Two Cent Offering was formed in 2007 when its members united around a common interest for recording and performing original music with a lasting message. Drawing upon a wide range of influences spanning classic and modern rock, singer/songwriters, and rhythm & blues, the band creates a fresh sound that is rooted in rich musical history. Combining poignant lyrics with memorable melodies, the band’s unique and accessible progressive folk rock sound encourages the listener as it blends message with craft in a way that makes both stronger in the end.
Two Cent Offering takes its name from Luke 21:1-4. “As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. ‘I tell you the truth,’ he said, ‘this poor widow has put in more than all the others. . . she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.’” Just as the widow gave all she had to the Lord, it is the desire of the members of Two Cent Offering to give all their gifts to God.
Beginning a partnership with Compassion International in March 2009, Two Cent Offering utilizes their gifts to help Compassion release children from poverty worldwide. With a rapidly growing fan base and two albums under their belt, the members of Two Cent Offering continue to tour, making appearances at churches, coffee houses, colleges and music festivals, sharing the stage with artists like Plumb, Big Daddy Weave and Switchfoot. Releasing two nationwide singles in 2009, the group finished the year on Christian Radio Weekly’s CHR charts’ Top 20 songs of 2009.
